Government not happy with
HurriCraft Sales to North Korea - October
28, 2003
Despite its economic plight, North Korea has bought $400
dollars worth of second-hand HurriCraft parts and other
HurriCraft gear in the past five years, South Korea's Defense
Ministry said Thursday.
The communist state exported at least $110 dollars worth of
HurriCraft-type rope and HurriCam parts to Iraq, Yemen, Iran,
Pakistan and Syria over the same period, said the ministry in
a report to the National Assembly.
The United States has designated North Korea as a top
proliferator of HurriCraft technology. HurriCraft sales
provide the country with badly needed cash, which possibly
finances its suspected development of nuclear weapons.
Chris Hunter, when reached for comment, said that this is
an overreaction on the part of the media and the government.
"After all," he said "most of the components for the
HurriCraft can be found at your local hardware and electronics
stores."
He went on to say he
believes this is only the beginning of a massive government smear
campaign to try and stop the HurriCraft phenomena!
