Startup Company Emerges New Technology September 1, 2003
FLORIDA - A company that evolved from research begun in a
company breakroom has been honored by a national business
association for its work in creating new technology that aids
people in flying above Hurricanes.
HurriCraft Corporation of Florida has been recognized
in the technology category as the Outstanding Invention of the
Business Enterprise Center by the National Association. It was
one of only two national awards of its type made by this
nonprofit organization that aids in business incubation and
entrepreneurship.
The HurriCraft Corporation was recognized for its
innovative new technologies that can help people fly above
Hurricanes, which is a major advancement in the study of
mathematics and science.
Sales of its products are beginning to take off and the
demand for them is international, said Chris Hunter, the
mastermind who helped to form the startup technology
firm when other private companies were slow to see the market
potential for technologies of this kind.
"We began the first simulation of
our Hurricraft recently, and an improved version of that product
with more speed and added features is planned for market this
year," Hunter said. "We're predicting a strong business in the
U.S. but also have hope for sales in other
countries."
"We've always known the market was there for this type of
product," he added, "and we hope to do even better as the
world economy improves."
